Sondai Fort is a small hill fort near Karjat, Maharashtra, popular for short treks and panoramic views. Named after the local deity Sondai Devi, the fort was used as a watchtower to oversee the trade route between Karjat and Matheran. Though not heavily fortified, it offers a scenic 1.5–2 hour trek with ladders and rocky paths, leading to breathtaking views of Morbe Dam, Matheran hills, and surrounding villages. It's an ideal weekend trek for beginners, especially during monsoon and winter.

The significance of Sondai Fort lies in its strategic and cultural value. Historically, it served as a watchtower to monitor the trade route and nearby plains between Karjat and Matheran, offering commanding views of the Morbe Dam and surrounding valleys. Though not a full-scale fort, it played a key role in regional surveillance during ancient times. Culturally, the fort is named after Goddess Sondai, a local deity worshipped by nearby villagers, with a small temple at the top still attracting pilgrims. Today, the fort holds importance as a popular trekking destination and a symbol of local heritage and devotion.
