About

  • Kedarnath is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites, located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. It is home to the Kedarnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas as well as part of the sacred Char Dham and Panch Kedar circuits.

Significance

  • Kedarnath holds immense spiritual significance as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and a key shrine in the Char Dham and Panch Kedar pilgrimages. According to legend, Lord Shiva took the form of a bull to avoid the Pandavas and vanished into the earth at Kedarnath, leaving his hump behind, which is worshipped at the temple. It is believed to be the place where devotees attain moksha (liberation) through Lord Shiva’s blessings.
